***Rabies Alert*** Clarion County Red Fox Tests Positive for Rabies

 

Location –Saint Mark Road, Knox, Ashland Township, Clarion County

 

Summary –A woman was driving a golf cart when a red fox began chasing the golf cart.  The fox also chased a horse that was in a nearby pasture.  The fox was shot and submitted to the Pennsylvania Veterinary Laboratory where it tested positive for rabies.

 

Exposure –No humans or domestic animals were exposed to the fox.

 

Rabies Law – Pennsylvania law requires all dogs and non-feral cats three months of age and older to be vaccinated against rabies. Booster vaccinations must be administered periodically to maintain lifelong immunity. Failure to comply with the law may result in a fine of up to $300.
