My name is Benuel Lapp, I own and operate Nature’s Accent Taxidermy in Narvon PA. I enjoy all aspects of bird and mammal taxidermy with turkeys being my favorite because they are so beautiful and very challenging to mount. I started taxidermy in my early 20’s with nobody to show me the way, then I started reading Breakthrough magazine and it opened my mind to a brand new world. a year later someone told me about the PTA convention and I have attended and competed almost every year since. Recently I won best of category large lifesize pro division at the Cabela’s competition with a chocolate phase black bear that I harvested in Colorado.
Besides taxidermy I enjoy hunting and being outdoors, especially in the Rocky mountains where I can get in touch with God like no other way that I have discovered yet. I thank God for these wild and untamed places. I love to hunt elk and this past September I took my best elk to date on a DIY hunt in southern Colorado. The PA mountains are also a great place to spend time and I hunt there as much as possible.
In the past year I have been very fortunate to study with some of the best taxidermists I know including Ashley Barret, Matt Zimmerman, and Fred Gonzalez and I always learn a lot from all the seminars at the annual PTA show. The competition is great and everyone who has entered a piece in the last few years has inspired me in some way.
I want to thank the PTA and everyone who has helped build the association to what it is today, without you I would not be the taxidermist I am today.
God bless everyone and may you have a prosperous hunting season.
